Winterthur Reopens Tuesday, March 9
After a short winter break, Winterthur reopens with new exhibitions and a new Café in the Museum Store offering hungry visitors sandwiches and baked goods, gourmet coffee and tea, wine by the glass, and more.

Garden Walk: Minor Bulbs and the Wild Garden
March 13, 1:00 pm at the Visitor's center.
Join Winterthur horticulturists on a walk through our own wild garden. Learn fascinating, little-known details about the plants there and the Winterthur estate. Dress for the weather and wear walking shoes. In case of inclement weather, call 302.888.4915 after 10:00 am. Walks last approximately 90 minutes. Members free. Included with all admission tickets.

The exhibit showcases portrait miniatures and other portraits of du Pont family members which have been cherished over the years. Of special interest are portrait miniatures depicting the founder of the DuPont Company, E. I. and his wife Sophie, as well as his brother Victor's family. This exhibit is on display in the du Pont family ancestral home, Eleutherian Mills. Included in regular admission and tour. Free for members. Use Hagley's main entrance off of Route 141 in Wilmington, Delaware.More information.

On Assignment: American Illustration 1850 - 1950

Classical literature, romantic best-sellers, cowboy adventures, historical fiction, frothy short stories about high society-all these and many more were the assignment of the working illustrator during a century of profound cultural change.  Illustrations captured telling moments of the written narrative, and individual illustrators were often sought out by editors and recognized by readers. Every weekend in March 2010  Passports for this event on sale now online and at all Brandywine Valley Wine Trail wineries who are featuring tastings of their new developing vintage in barrels, buckets, bottles. Chester County Antiques Show
March 19-21, 2010
Featuring dealers specializing in 18th & 19th century American, English and Continental furniture, rugs, paintings, porcelain, glass, silver, jewelry, needlework and other decorative arts. March 19 Preview Party - 6PM - 9PM. March 20 - 10AM-7PM. March 21 - 11AM-5PM. $15 general admission includes show catalog and free parking. Proceeds benefit the Chester County Historical Society. 61st Chadds Ford Art Show & Sale
March 20: 10AM-4PM
Local and regional professional artists will sell and display their works in an array of mediums to satisfy every taste and budget at the 60th Annual Chadds Ford Sale & Show. As in previous years, patrons can meet the artists on Friday evening (7-10PM) while enjoying complimentary hors d'oeuvres from prominent local restaurants and live music. Admission is free. 30% of all purchases are tax deductible. Proceeds are put towards school educational enrichment programs in foreign language, science and the arts. More information.

Chef Karen Nicolas offers tasty small-plates from local farm products based on her travels in Spain and Europe.
