Golfing in the Valley is not unlike most areas of the country where there are more golfers than courses to accommodate them. However, if you plan ahead and reserve a tee time, you won't be disappointed. There are several excellent public courses in the Valley and more within an hour by car.

In the Valley, the best public courses are The Golf Course at Glen Mills in Glen Mills, PA and Broad Run in West Chester, PA. Three other excellent courses are Wyncote, a links style course in Oxford, PA, (about 16 miles from Kennett Square); Pilgrim's Oak, a Dan Hurzdan design that features links style holes and some dramatic elevation changes, about 45 minutes from Kennett Square near New Britain, Pa and Quarryville; and Frog Hollow and Back Creek in Middletown, DE about a 30 minute drive from the heart of the Valley. All three are excellent. Tee times are definitely recommended. Newest area courses are White Clay Creek CC at Delaware Park a resort quality championship layout and new, totally redesigned Rock Manor in Wilmington. Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club in Newark, private for decades, is now open to the public.

If you are a club member and can get your club pro to arrange tee times at some of the local private clubs, you might be able to play Wilmington Country Club, the DuPont Country Club or Fieldstone off of Pyle's Ford Road near Centreville. Serious golfers can of course choose from among the many championship level courses within the Philadelphia area.
