 | 3rd Annual Plein Air Event (Saturday, Feb 3 & 4, 2012)
After a day of painting in Chaddsford and the Brandywine Valley, 30 juried artists from mid-Atlantic states return to the Chadds Ford Historical Society's Barn Visitors Center to frame and hang their paintings for a special exhibit and art sale. An "Exclusive Preview Party" will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2011 from 5:00pm - 6:00pm, $40 ticket admits up to two people to the preview party. Preview ticket holders are treated to a first look and sale of wet paintings, hors d'oeuvres and wine. The price of the ticket is refunded with a painting purchase and 20% of the painting price is tax deductible.
From 6:00 - 8:00 enjoy a "Wine and Cheese Party" with the Artists. Admission is $5.00 per person donation. (FREE to preview ticket holders) Artists must register in advance.  | 2012 Barrels on the Brandywine (Every Weekend in March) Six premium wineries & vineyards in Southern Chester County, PA
Barrels on the Brandywine feature tastings of the new developing vintage in barrels, buckets, bottles and more! This Passport Event gives you a chance to venture into our cellars, see the new wines firsthand, and participate in pruning demonstrations, seminars, classes and more.
Passports ($30) are required for this event. Passports allow for tastings at each member winery and a commemorative wine glass. Valid each weekend in March and through the entire month of April. The 2012 theme, "Artists Throughout Chester County" will feature high quality American and Continental antiques, the event draws over 2,000 visitors to a collector-friendly atmosphere and wide range of items, from museum-quality furniture to pieces within the reach of the average visitor. The Show is returning to the beautiful, historic Westtown School - acclaimed in Maine Antiques Digest as "the best venue for an antiques show in the Delaware Valley". The opening night Preview Party will be held on March 16th and the Show will be open to the public March 17th and 18th.

This popular art show features works by over 70 local and regional professional artists from the Brandywine Valley and beyond. Artists display and sell their art in an array of mediums to satisfy every taste and budget. This year's "Featured Artist" is Paul Scarborough, a popular, award-winning Brandywine Valley artist whose work is featured in private and public collections throughout the country including a commission by NASA currently hanging in the National Air and Space Museum. The "Donating Artist," Stephen Brehm, was featured in Philadelphia Style Magazine and has received numerous honors for his talents. Brehm's paintings reside in homes and businesses from California to Florida, throughout the Northeast and Europe. Special guest will be local author Catherine Quillman author of 100 Artists of the Brandywine Valley, which serves as a comprehensive guide to the artistic history of this scenic region, birthplace of an important realist tradition known as the Brandywine Tradition. Quillman will lead a talk on Brandywine Valley art and offer a book signing at the show. Admission is free. 30% of all purchases are tax deductible.  | 70th Brandywine Hills Point-to-Point Horse Races (April 1, 2012)
The racing and family oriented festivities take place on the rolling countryside of the Brandywine Valley Association's 318-acre Myrick Conservation Center on Route 842 approximately six miles west of West Chester and three miles east of Unionville.

 | Opening Day - Trout Fishing in the Newlin Grist Mill Stream (April, 2012)

In order to fish in the stream, you need a Pennsylvania fishing license and a Park fly fishing membership. E-mail the Mill at info@newlingristmill.org to request membership information be mailed to you. Fishing privileges in the stream are limited to a list of approved membership numbering no more than 100.
Trout fishing in the Newlin Grist Mill ponds is open weekends March through October from 9AM - 4PM. To fish, you must bring a valid driver's license to register in the office. Fees are $3/person, $3/trout. Bait is available for $1. All trout must be kept and paid for. No releasing.

 | Annual Trout Rodeo at Anson B. Nixon Park ( Saturday, May 5, 2012) Kennett Square, PA For some outdoor fun join anglers and casual fishermen at the Trout Rodeo rain or shine at the Anson B. Nixon Park. The ponds will bespecially-stocked with trout ranging in length from 12 to 24 inches. The Brandywine Festival of the Arts is an annual arts festival in Wilmington, Delaware. Featuring hundreds of juried artists exhibiting one-of-a-kind art, the festival is a Delaware tradition spanning 51 years. Now regionally popular and nationally recognized, the Brandywine Festival of the Arts boasts participants from across the United States and perennially ranks in the top 100 shows in the country. Hundreds of cars on the general show field will reflect the variety of makes and models that are a part of automotive history. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission was $12 for a family, $5 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 14, free for children under 6.
